So, if you have followed our 200OK blog this year, you might have noticed things are kind of, well, quiet compared to last year. No, we aren't slacking off, we are just busy coding some new features for httpZip, ServerMask and of course the launch of the new ServerMask appliances (gratuitous sales link).
However, our blog itself has been overwhelmed lately with the dreaded comment spam, the latest of digital scourges. So, thank you, O kind spammers -- we love Viagra so much we just bought a bunch from your very legitimate site (What is a 1000 spammers chained together at the bottom of the ocean? A dang good start.).
Seriously, rather than spending time trying to keep adding ugly patches to the open source .NET blogging software we use (hint, hint, project owners), we decided to take a different route to kill comment SPAM and other similar problems. So, drum roll, please: here is an upcoming product release leak directly from us... there is a new Port80 offering on deck called LinkDeny:
LinkDeny will assist Microsoft IIS Web server folks in defeating a variety of nasty people on the Web, including image leechers, comment spammers, countries of ill repute, and more. If you want to keep people off your IIS-based Web site, you will be able to just install LinkDeny and define the rules of blocking -- now THAT’S denial of service, baby. The tool goes well beyond HTTP referrer checking with a variety of interesting features. The scheduled release is the end of July 2006, so if you want to get in on the public beta, drop us a line at
info@port80software.com.
Thanks for your support, as always,
