Server 2003 SP 1 released with IIS goodies

Microsoft has released the new SP1 for Windows Server 2003:

Here is the most Googled press release (at this moment, that is), a virtual “slew” of updates:

For IIS in particular, they have provided metabase auditing to allow you identify malicous folks in your info store, more secure defaults and service privilege controls, and “Network Access Quarantine Control components. These allow administrators to isolate out-of-date virtual private networking assets.“

Sounds like more of the same from Redmond with this latest SP: more secure by default stuff that has made Server 2003 a success.  If you have mixed patched boxes, now is the time to service pack them into shape.

Speaking of patches and updates, there is a much-needed httpZip patch on the way (if you are streaming data, you may have hit a snafu in the past two weeks with 3.0).  The patch, with some new feature additions like proxy exclusions, is in final testing now...

And guess who is getting a face lift after two years: CustomError 3.0 coming soon with 404s and redirect management made easy.

Adios,
Port80
